Native Bowl's "Broadway," a delicious mix of jasmine rice, grilled tofu, shredded red cabbage, carrots, scallions and cilantro; all topped with ginger peanut sauce.
Of all my greatest loves, there is one tall, dark, and flavorful fellow that never fails to make my taste buds swoon. The sweet, spicy, sizing snacks of South East Asia. Let it be Thia, Indonesian, Philippines or Malay, I have yet to find a region that fails to delight. While many of my usual spots offer the traditional cuisine of Pad Thia and sticky rice, every once in a while an aspiring foodie comes along to offer their own delicious twist. One of these peoples has made their mark at the food cart Native Bowl.
Located on N Mississippi at Skidmore in the Mississippi Marketplace, the happy blue stand offers “bowls” of fluffy jasmine rice topped with an assortment of fresh organic vegetables and favorable spices. Offering bowls for all eaters, the “Broadway” for more sensitive eaters to the “Alberta” for the stronger tongued, each customer happily walks away with a bright white & red to go box. Offered at $6.00 for a regular and $7.00 for a large, the bowls may teeter on the “I’m not straggling to find money” side. But for the amount of food and a flavor that packs a punch, Native Bowl definitely left my stomach growling for more.
